Everyday staples and treats

Conscious gifting

Hampers

Giving a gift of beautiful food and household wares is a meaningful and waste free way to show another your gratitude, well wishes and love. Whether it’s a corporate hamper, birthday gift, care package, new mum/parent bundle, or a just because gesture, we are well versed in sorting it out for you.

We individually curate gift boxes, wooden crates filled with seasonal produce and local goods, and beautiful basket hampers that are brimming with artisanal delights from near and far. Get in touch!

Things we love…

Natasha Morgan Syrups

These beautiful, provenance filled cordials have recently joined our shelves from Natasha’s home in Daylesford.

Made by hand with seasonal and local grown produce they are an ideal accompaniment to ice cream, yoghurt, prosecco, sparkling water, to add to baking, and whatever else you can creatively think of!

Love Tea

We have partnered with Emma and Damien for almost the entire duration of our stores existence. We stock their full range and are energised and inspired by the business ethics that they have built into this beautiful, sustainable, and ethical brand of teas.

Pre-packed Bulk Goods

The focus of our offerings have moved to pre- packed bulk goods. Grown organically and often bio dynamic (Demeter certified). We see this as a way for people to purchase staples in an environmentally responsible (our packaging is reusable, recyclable and compostable) and economical way.
It allows us to purchase a variety of grains, legumes, cereals, seeds, nuts, spices, oils, and a whole lot more, directly from producers in large volumes thereby making it more affordable to customers and drastically minimising the supply chain. Effectively it’s just us that is between maker and consumer.

About us and our store

Meneka Premkumar
Owner

Coming to own the Common Good store has been a long journey.

We are a husband, wife and two young ratbag team who juggle going to market, dealing with growers, farmers and suppliers and researching and getting to know all the people and companies behind the products we sell.

We live in the same neighbourhood as the store.

We are striving to reacquaint people with shopping locally, eating organically and sustainably and widening the conversation to ethical living and integrity based business.

This is our first business. It's built on a passion for mainstreaming ethical consumption and striving to give people the opportunity to make decisions with their whole consciousness.

It's not possible to wander through our store and aimlessly put things in a trolley because three is cheaper than two (even though you only need one).

We believe the only way to build a business is to give generously, and that the single most important thing you do for your children is what you feed them. Every single time. Each day we remind ourselves that people have many options on where they spend their money, and each time someone chooses our store, we am grateful.

Good things are closer than they seem.

Hope you'll visit us soon.
